We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Field Application Engineer focused on supporting customers and empowering our distribution partners as they develop Arduino-powered solutions. You will be considered the subject matter expert for Arduino products and participate in every stage of the sales process and will also support Marketing during product demos, webinars, hackathons, and public speaking.

Your Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Arduino Key Distribution Partners and their customers to gather and define business and functional requirements, provide product recommendations, and support the creation of the appropriate technical and solution footprint.
  • Deliver proposed solutions to drive maximum value for customers on both the application and technical front.
  • Coordinate with the Partner Sales team during the research and design phases of a project.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including reference architectures, use- cases, and system requirements.
  • Coordinate with Arduino internal R&D, Business Unit, and System Integration partners cross-functional teams to propose the appropriate technical solutions for end-customer use cases.
  • Keep continuous communication with Arduino Distribution Partners, customers and other stakeholders during various project phases.
  • Articulate product features and benefits through marketing mediums such as video, webinars, social media, blog posts, and event talks.
  • Provide constructive recommendations to various Product Managers acting as a proxy for customer feedback.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to development teams during the implementation of Industrial Automation, IoT solutions.

Your Experience

  • 5+ years of proven work experience as a Field Applications Engineer, Sales Engineer, or other customer-facing technical roles in enterprise (professional services, technical consultant, etc.)
  • 2+ Years of Hands-on Engineering and Development experience in either Firmware/Embedded Electronics/IoT Solutions; preferably with Arduino.
  • High technical aptitude (experience with electrical engineering or programming). It is key for you to have the ability to consult engineers / technical managers by providing technical and design advice for the right IoT solution.
  • Deep analytical skills to convey how technical applications drive business value
  • Strong Written and verbal communication skills in English with experience presenting to large technical audiences at workshops and conferences.
  • General knowledge of industrial automation (MES, SCADA, PLC and I/O Sensors)
  • Self-starter that shows Initiative and drive; strong goal-setting and planning, and enthusiasm for problem-solving.
  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with system integration and distribution partners
  • Knowledge of embedded hardware, Electrical engineering- Microcontroller/Microprocessor based designs, communication interfaces (USB etc.)
  • Working knowledge of cloud offerings and architectures from AWS or Azure.
  • Experience working with the latest sales tools and relationship management software.

Bonus Points

  • Competency with C/C++, Python, MicroPython, Python, AT Commands, Docker, JTAG or other debugging tools, and Yocto Distro
  • Competency with IoT Protocols (MQTT, CoAP, HTTP, TCP, UDP, & AMQP)
  • Understanding of Arduino’s PRO products, services, and position in the industry
  • Any competency with PLC languages and protocols (IEC 61131-3, Ladder, Functional Block Diagram, Structured Text, Sequential Function Chart, Modbus, CANbus) will be highly relevant.
